Treating men and women who are addicted and dependent to drugs and/or alcohol and have ended up in the criminal justice system has proven effective in eliminating repeat drug related crimes for individuals that do take advantage of treatment programs. For criminal justice clients in San Juan who do agree to take part in treatment in drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers, even un-voluntarily as is sometimes ordered by the court, these persons have a much better chance at addressing the crux of the problem so that they can remain abstinent and off of the streets drug related crimes.
